1. To work with ENA you must:
- Be 23 years or over
- Be eligible to work in the UK
- Have a full clean manual drivers license
- Ideally be a non smoker
- Speak very clear English
- Have a kind and caring attitude
- Be physically fit & well

3. If you meet our criteria we will email an application form. With your application you will need to supply us with photocopies of:
- Your Passport
- Visa / Work Permit (if you have one)
- Your Driving Licence
- Your National Insurance card or proof of your number (if you have one)
- A police check (if you already have one)
- A passport size photo of yourself
- The name and contact number/address of three previous employee’s.
4. Once your application has been received we will arrange for an interview, it might be in person, over the phone or via webcam, depending on your location.
Once your application is approved and your arrival dates confirmed, all your information is forwarded to the head office in the UK. We book you into our free 4 day training session and free accommodation upon your arrival in the UK. Then we will start searching for the position which best suits you.
We don’t charge any administration or application fee.
The only costs you incur are:
- An Australian or NZ police check approx $49.
- An International Drivers Licence $25
- A UK police check which we'll help you apply for once you arrive in England £42
- Your flight, visa & insurance
Essential Information
Live-in: All positions are living in the client's home, food and accommodation is provided.
Previous Experience: Experience is useful but not essential. We do take on inexperienced carers as all our carers take part in training and our clients are happy to carry on training on the job.
Support: The Agency is set up to support and help you . You will have regular visits and phone calls from our staff, you’ll receive induction training before starting work, and a 24 hour handover by the previous carer for your first day on the job. Plus we can put you in touch with other carers in your area to meet up with in your time off.
Training: If you are a successful applicant you will be asked to come to our 4 day (free) training course, run weekly from Monday to Thursday. During the training you will learn about ENA, the different types of disabilities we care for, and how to work safe and well. You will meet our friendly staff who will provide information and support every step of the way. It is a great opportunity to relax into your new job. After training we aim to place you into a job ASAP. It may be an immediate start or there may be a short period of time between training and your start date, this is because we want to match you up as best as possible with your ideal client so that you are happy in your new position.
3 month Contracts: You need to be available to work for a minimum of three months or longer.
Coming From Abroad: We always have heaps of carers from Australia and New Zealand. those who work with us are relieved to to have a job and home to settle into for 3 months, giving them time to save and plan for the next stage of their trip. You will need to apply for a visa to legally work in the UK see ‘visa’ section below.
Reliable and Trustworthy:We require our staff to act responsibly as you are our primary carers. You are not permitted to drink or take drugs whilst working for your client. We check your referee’s and request police checks reassuring the client you are an honourable person and it is a requirement by law. Without 3 positive reference checks and clear police checks from both your home country and the UK, we are unable to place you. We’ll help you get your UK police check during training week. Duties: The carer's duties are to assist our clients in their daily routine including personal, domestic and social needs. Often our clients require assistance getting in and out of their wheel chair, help in the shower and toilet, dressing, cooking and light household duties. You are expected to work no more than 6-8 hours hands on daily, with a minimum of 2 hours off daily, the rest of time is free time you just need to be in ears reach of your client in case of emergency or if they need anything.
Our Clients: The majority of our clients are young disabled adults keen to keep an active, interesting life. Some of our clients go to work every day, some go to day centres, some to University or college. Others like to go shopping, to the theatre, to meet their friends in the pub, or are more comfortable staying at home. Each client’s care plan and daily routine is individual. Some carers need to accompany the client all day, others may have time off when the client is busy doing their own thing.
Time Off: If you require a holiday during your 3 month stay we are happy to organise a replacement for you providing we receive 4 weeks’ notice. Plus you can have as much time off between placements to travel and explore, then if you wish to return, let us know a few weeks in advance of your return so we can arrange another position for you. You also receive 7 days paid holiday for every 3 months you work.
Pay: You will be paid between £370 to £435 gross, including meals and accommodation, weekly into your UK bank account.
Visas: In order to work for ENA you must either be a British citizen, a member of the EU or have a valid working visa.

Banking & Tax:You can apply to open a UK account through your local HSBC or Travelex agent before you leave. Or we can help you open an account once you arrive in the UK if you bring with you documents (driving licence/utility bill, etc.) with a home address on it. This address does not have to be in England. We will pay you direct in to your UK bank account. We can help you apply for your NI (National Insurance) number when you come to training, it is like an Australian tax file number, and is also is essential to have if you work in the UK. ENA are able to assist you reclaim the tax owed to you if you are still working with us at tax time – we do not charge you for this service.
